What is your body composed of?
Bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) is a simple, quick and non-invasive method for measuring body composition.
The measurement is taken while lying down. Electrodes are placed on both wrists and ankles for the impedance measurement. The body composition is determined via electrical resistance (impedance) (different parts of the body such as muscles, fat and water have different resistances). Using the stored formulas (which take age, gender, weight and height into account), the measurement can provide information about fat percentage, muscle mass and body water.
As doctors and nutritionists, we can use the results to provide specific recommendations for health and nutrition.
