Ayurveda – The Knowledge of Life

Harmony for body, mind and soul

Ayurveda

The term Ayurveda comes from Sanskrit and combines the words “Ayus” – life – and “Veda” – knowledge. Ayurveda can therefore be translated as ‘knowledge of life’. Ayurveda is a healing art that dates back thousands of years. It is the health system of the ancient Indian Vedic civilisation and is considered the oldest health system in the world.

Ayurveda takes a holistic approach, taking into account the individual constitution, according to which body, mind and soul should be brought into harmony to maintain health. With nutrition, massages and healing herbal therapies, as well as recommendations for everyday life, you can regain your balance and improve your health, vitality and zest for life. According to Ayurveda, every person has three life energies (doshas). These energies, pitta, vata and kapha, are present in the body in varying proportions. The combination of these energies determines a person’s constitution and personality traits, and thus also their health and resilience.

About me

Hello, my name is Melissa, it’s nice to meet you!
I am a total family person, love being outdoors and have a weakness for good food.
I enjoy the little things in life and am full of gratitude.
For me, it is important to listen to your own body and go through life with self-care and mindfulness.

What fascinates me about Ayurveda is that even small things can have a big impact and that it works with supplements rather than prohibitions.
Ayurveda’s holistic and highly individual approach inspires me and strengthens my way of thinking.
I look forward to accompanying you on your journey to improved body awareness, increased well-being and serenity with my massages and nutritional recommendations!

Yours, Melissa Nielsen

My vision: Ayurveda for women

With my Ayurvedic massages and nutritional recommendations, I support you in improving and strengthening your health, vitality and zest for life in all cycles of womanhood.
I focus on your individual starting point in order to find and maintain your personal balance.
My Ayurvedic nutritional recommendations support you in learning mindful consumption habits so that your inner and outer well-being can improve.

For Ayurvedic massages, I only use the highest quality herbal oils, which strengthen, cleanse and revitalise the tissues deep down. The warm oils have a pain-relieving and calming effect on the nervous system. They also activate endorphin production and strengthen the connection between body and mind.

Manual therapies

Abhyanga (full body massage)

Abhyanga is considered the queen of Ayurvedic oil massages and has a regenerating and relaxing effect. The massage is performed with gentle, enveloping movements using warm herbal oils that have been tailored to the individual’s constitution and the desired goal of the treatment.
It nourishes the skin and joints and relaxes the entire nervous system.
Abhyanga makes you happy, has an emotionally balancing effect and connects body and mind.

Mukabhyanga (facial massage)

Relieves tension in the head, neck and shoulders.
The facial massage relaxes tense nerves and reduces stress with its gentle strokes and warm oil.
It has a rejuvenating effect and brings contentment, harmony and inner strength.

Padabhyanga (foot massage)

Feet and calves are massaged up to above the knees using gentle, effective strokes. It helps you relax by releasing pent-up energy from the body through targeted manipulation of energy points. The massage has a deeply grounding effect and helps with inner restlessness, stress and sleep disorders.

Pristabhyanga (back massage)

Back massage can help relieve back pain and release stress-related tension. Through targeted massage techniques combined with warm herbal oils, Pristabhyanga has a calming effect on the nervous system. It helps to release deep blockages in the energy system, which are often emotionally induced. Overall, Pristabhyanga has a calming effect on the nervous system, is anti-inflammatory and regenerative.

Garshana (dry massage with silk gloves)

Garshan is a stimulating dry massage performed with rough silk gloves. This dynamic massage helps to detoxify the body and stimulate the metabolism and mind. Similar to lymphatic drainage, it activates the entire body’s elimination processes. This also supports weight loss and tissue tightening.
It relieves heaviness and increases the release of happiness hormones. You feel lighter and full of energy.
From a cosmetic point of view, it is mainly used to smooth the skin and break down tissue, for example on the thighs and buttocks.

Kalari (dynamic sports massage)

Kalari is a full-body oil massage that uses dynamic and stimulating techniques to relieve muscle tension, improve circulation and stimulate the lymphatic system. It also promotes mobility and flexibility.
The massage has a rather activating effect and is ideal before sporting activities or physical exercise. Therefore, the preferred time of day for a Kalari massage is in the morning.

Pregnancy and baby massage

Garbhini (pregnancy massage)

Pregnancy is a very special time that should be accompanied by mindfulness, love and empowerment.
Pregnancy massage offers a nourishing and relaxing break for mother and baby. It promotes physical and mental well-being, alleviates complaints such as back pain or heavy legs, and helps to deepen the special bond with the baby.
Important: The massage is performed from the 14th week of pregnancy onwards. It is not suitable for high-risk pregnancies.

Kumara Abhyanga (baby massage)

Baby massage strengthens the emotional bond between parents and baby. Gentle touch calms the nervous system, stimulates the metabolism and promotes the baby’s growth and development.
All of this symbolises care, love and attentiveness towards the baby, which strengthens physical and emotional balance.
Using a demonstration doll, I will show you the massage techniques, which you can then apply directly to your baby.

Dietary advice

In Ayurveda, nutrition is the key to our physical and mental well-being. It can be used both to maintain health and for healing purposes. In addition to general nutritional recommendations, the main focus is on optimally tailoring nutrition to individual needs and circumstances.

It is recommended to eat according to your individual dosha, change combinations and add certain herbs and spices.

Food not only provides us with valuable vital energy, but also physical health, a contented soul and a clear mind. Fresh foods are selected to suit your constitution type and the time of day and year, and are thus tailored to your individual metabolism.

Ayurvedic herbs and spices add variety to the taste of prepared dishes and have a positive effect on the human organism.

Ayurveda does not work with prohibitions, but rather tries to find supplements that are easy to implement and suitable for everyday life.
